I was first approached by Gigi’s husband, Dave. We talked about their wedding plans and told me they would be very happy if I make Gigi’s dress for the ceremony. The couple is based in Dubai and it actually took us months talking about the details. It’s always challenging to create a custom gown for someone abroad, but since Gigi listened and trusted me everything went quite smoothly.
Gigi is quite short, but so is Dave. So, we needed to make a gown that will look flattering without trying to overpowering the groom. We balanced the look with a very classic Peau de soie in a soft organic biased A line cut. We agreed on cinching her true waist making her appear to have longer legs.
Gigi has fair skin and I thought we should highlight that. I decided to go for a subtle lace detail that crawls on her skin applied by hand on illusion tulle. To add glamor, we completely covered the lace detail in beads and added hand cut floral appliques and Swarovski crystals. The whole look really enhanced her sweet girl persona.
I didn’t get to attend their wedding ceremony, but my sister assisted them that day. We always go the extra mile.
